Professional Writings

During my Freshmen year at Oklahoma State I worked with Cowboys Ride For Free, an Oklahoma State sports blog run through SB Nation. One of the first articles I wrote dealt with the Paddle People at Oklahoma State and was picked up by the Tulsa World online in which they published the beginning of my article and linked it to my story. I was later told that the story was viewed over 15,000 times. I covered basketball, wrestling, and softball in my one year of working for them; gaining valuable experience along the way.

In the fall semester of 2015 I was a sports writer for the O'Colly, Oklahoma State's school newspaper. I also was involved in Pioneer Media; a club for the local high school football and basketball team where each week we would be assigned different jobs. During the basketball season I was the lead play by play announcer for the varsity girls basketball team, getting to broadcast their games, interview the coach in an intimate setting prior and following each game, gaining valuable experience.

Starting in 2015 I became a writer for Pistols Firing Blog, mainly writing recaps and recruiting for Oklahoma State Football and basketball.

In 2017, I joined another new up-and-coming website Boone Pickens State and became the lead writer for the 2017-18 basketball season. As a beat writer for the men's basketball team I was tasked with writing previews and postgame stories, as well as mid-week articles to draw attention to the site. During games I would live tweet and give analysis on twitter where I was averaging approximately 2,000 engagements every game day, more than tripling my twitter followers of 600. During March 2018 I was getting approximately 4,000 engagements and interactions on my OSU sports tweets daily. As you can see, my knowledge of the game and willingness to interact with fans has grown my following substantiallly and allowed me to get a real feel of what the fans wanted to see.

During my time with Cook Brothers Broadcasting, I occasionally went out of way to write recaps and posts engaging my viewers. I had a chance to write a season recap post for the state championship volleyball team I followed that finished a perfect 36-0.
